August 2, 2010???? Start of software service for new version of Macintosh anti-virus software
At last, it’s here. From today, we have started the software service for the Macintosh anti-virus software, Symantec Endpoint Protection for Mac (Ver. 11.06).
Please use the portal to download the software. With the launch of this software, the previous version will no longer be available.

• The compatible OS is Mac OS 10.4 to 10.6.
  For details, see System Requirements and Release Notes.
• An overwrite install from the previous version Symantec Anti-Virus for Mac (Ver. 10.2) is possible.
• Note that the screens during the installation process have been changed, and more selection options are available, and so pay attention to the on-screen instructions during the installation process.

July 8, 2010???? Announcement of release of new version
A new version of the Macintosh anti-virus software, Symantec Anti-Virus for Mac (Ver. 10.2.3), has been released. The new version is Symantec Endpoint Protection for Mac (Ver. 11.06).
The software is expected to become available for download from the portal sometime in July. With the launch of this software, the previous version will no longer be available.

June 21, 2010???? Announcement of ending of service for certain software
It is recommended that users who wish to install Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003 do so as soon as possible.

• Windows XP SP2 (32-bit): 　Available until July 14, 2010
  Microsoft will end its support for Windows XP SP2 on July 13, 2010 (U.S. time). With the end of this support, the Windows XP SP2 (32-bit) installation service will end on July 14, 2010.
  Please use the installation service for Windows XP SP3 after this date.
• Office 2003: Available until March 31, 2011`
  Because of the release of a new version of Office, the Office 2003 installation service will end on March 31, 2011.
  Please use the installation service for Office 2010 after this date. Please note that the OS where Office 2010 is installed must be Windows XP SP3 or later.

The long wait is over. From today, we have started a download installation service for Office Professional Plus 2010 for university-owned computers.
Please login from the Tokyo Tech Portal to use this service.

• The 32-bit version only is available at the Tokyo Tech Portal.
  Because the 64-bit version has some limited functionality, we strongly recommend use of the 32-bit version, even if you are using a 64-bit OS.
  64-bit Version of Office 2010
• The simultaneous installation of two or more versions of Office on the same OS is not recommended because it can lead to operation instability.
  If you want to install more than one version of Office, please do so at your own risk.
  Regardless of which versions are combined, a 32-bit version of Office cannot be used on the same system with a 64-bit version of Office.

We have received a shipment of Office Professional Plus 2010 installation discs for students at the Co-op.

• Even if you are running a 64-bit OS, the 32-bit version is installed under the default installation.
  Because the 64-bit version has some limited functionality, we strongly recommend use of the 32-bit version, even if you are using a 64-bit OS.
  64-bit version of Office 2010
• Because the university license only allows installation of one version of Office on an individually-owned computer, Office 2010 and Office 2007 are not allowed on the same computer.
  This is also not recommended due to instability in the operating environment.
  In the standard installation, the old version of Office is removed so that Office 2010 only is available.

Notice and limitations are same as English version.

Symantec Anti-Virus for Mac 10.2.3 (anti-virus software for Macintosh) English version now supports Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
Please read Read Me file carefully, before installation of the AntiVirus for Mac 10.2.3.
This version has the following limitations.

• Symantec Antivirus for Mac (SAM) 10.2.3
  This version supports OS X 10.5x-10.6 only. Please use SAM 10.2 if your system is running Mac OS X 10.4.
• UFS and Case-Sensitive HFS+ Format are not supported.
• The Rosetta environment is required.
  Although Rosetta is not required for the operating environment, it is required for installation and uninstallation.
• Be sure to remove any previous versions and Norton products before installing SAM 10.2.3.
  An uninstaller can be downloaded here.

• The 64-bit kernel is not supported.

Points to Note:

• For those upgrading from other versions of Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional), or from Windows XP, the software will be newly installed (custom installation).
  
• For those upgrading from Windows Vista, upgrade (overwrite) installation is possible, but a new installation is recommended for preventing hardware/software incompatibilities.
  
• Those who want to convert from the 32-bit to the 64-bit version or vice versa, please install anew.
• The activation tool works only on Windows 7 Enterprise.

News about Windows 7

1. Installation on university computers (11/09/2009 schedule change)
   We plan to start an upgrade service installing Windows 7 on all of Tokyo Tech's computers around early November on December 1st, under the blanket license. However, certain contractual issues between Tokyo Tech and Microsoft remain unsolved, and at present it has not yet been decided how the upgrade will be carried out. We plan to perform the installation service regardless of exactly what format the new software is distributed in, so please wait just a little longer for the launch of the service.
   News will appear on this page when the details of how the software will be distributed are confirmed.
2. Installation on private computer
   Tokyo Tech Co-op is planning to sell Windows 7 Ultimate discs.
   The following four versions will be available. See this page for the information about the price.
   
   • 32-bit Japanese version
   • 32-bit English version
   • 64-bit Japanese version
   • 64-bit English version
   Please note that the delivery of the install discs is running very late.
   You are asked to look out for information at the Co-op store etc.

Additional Information regarding Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

• The Office 2008 on the TTInstaller is not yet compatible with Snow Leopard. We offer our apologies and ask for your patience.
• Office2004 can be installed and works on Mac OS 10.6, though it requires a Rosetta environment. Please choose Rosetta as an optional extra when the system is installed.
• Symantec AntiVirus for Mac can be installed and it is partially functional on Mac OS 10.6 However, the Auto-Protect function does not work.

Unfortunately, the TTInstaller is not yet Snow Leopard-compatible, and compatibility will take at least two more weeks. Please be patient.
If you upgrade from 10.4 or 10.5, the installed Office2004 and/or 2008 work all right.

The Tokyo Tech Software License Website was updated with the start of a new university-wide antivirus software service. Difficult-to-understand sections in the installation procedures were revised. The new procedures may seem a little unfamiliar at first, but they should be clearer and easier to perform.

As a result, Windows XP, Office 2003 (Win) and 2004 (Mac) for individually-owned computers will no longer be available when our stock runs out. After that, please use Windows Vista, Office 2007 (Win), and Office 2008 (Mac).
